  • You have to think of a name
  • Creating a website
  • Customers find
  • Create and develop a product or service
  • File a tax return
  • Maintain administration

Setting up a business

Before you can really start making money, you will need to register a company. If you set up a sole proprietorship, you can easily do this yourself by going to the Chamber of Commerce. Then you will walk out with a company registration.

If you want to set up a BV, you will have to go to a notary. That is a bit more involved.

With both forms, and the other options, you will receive an immediate Chamber of Commerce numberYou will receive your new VAT number from the Tax Authorities.

Think of a name

Thank a nice name. You can work under your own name. If your name is Jan, and you are going to paint, you can choose Jan the Painter. Something more original is also possible: Picasso master painters, to name but one.

Website

Create a website and set up an email address. You don't want to come up with a hotmail or gmail address anymore, do you?

Product or service

What exactly are you going to offer? And how is that different from existing products?

Customers find

This is perhaps the hardest one, finding your first customers. Especially when you start from scratch, it is not easy.

Maintain administration

zOne of the most annoying things for many entrepreneurs is keeping up with the administration. But this is really super important. Because how often does it not happen that a successful company still goes under? This is almost always due to poor administration and the fact that there was no insight into the costs and income.

Make sure you also have one right away simple crm system chooses to keep track of all your contacts. Very easy and done.

File a tax return

This is one of the things you really can't get around, Tax return. You can do both the VAT and the Income Tax yourself, but if you are not that handy or don't feel like it, you will have to find an accountant or administration office that can do it for you.

Really do it, even if you don't have any turnover yet, you will immediately receive a fine if you don't do this.

Start

Building relationships is an important aspect of your business success. Especially if you start your own business later in life and have years of work experience, you will have built up a good network. But until now, that was always for your employer and the company you were working for. The contacts you made or the people you approached always did so from the position you had.

Once you start working for yourself, you will have to reactivate this network.
